Entry #2

When it comes to how Barack Obama presented his thoughts and ideas on the topic of church and state he was able to use many different strategies in his speech. I believe that he uses a large amount of emotion in this speech. His deep feelings towards the church and faith truly do come out. His stories of how he became a part of the church much later in life than most people had a lot of heart put into it. I personally love when people speak from the heart instead of just saying what they think everyone wants to hear. He never seemed like he was doing this so people would like him, he was doing this for himself while he wanted to put himself out there and show exactly how he felt so that if people chose to vote for him they knew exactly what they were voting for. He is a very emotional person which also shows that when he cares about something he will put every bit of his effort into it. He also puts his personal character into his work. He doesn't go to work pretending to be another person. He is who he is and thats exactly who Obama wants to be. The combination of character and emotions go hand in hand with each other. When someone is speaking to you about feelings or personal topics their own character will show through every time. Obama knew this when he wanted to give this speech and that is what he wanted. He wanted to show people his true character through topics that mean very much to him. He used both of these strategies very well in this speech. He was able to show exactly what he wanted the listeners to see. These types of speeches are the best in my eyes. When a man such as Barack Obama can come up and speak about his own life and his own thoughts on faith and state together is a great sight.
